The MS3156VF & MS3156C/400II DRUM SANDER can be fitted with this optional abrasive head which uses strips of abrasive backed with stiff bristles. It is a non-aggressive method of sanding that does not sever the woods fibres, creating a uniform finish to the timber. This has many advantages when applying a sealer or stain finish. The sealer or stain can penetrate the surface more evenly, especially on the edges, improving the woods structure. De-nibbing is effectively done before applying a sealer or stain. This process can save up to 50% in sealer or stain consumption, not to mention the time saved. The uniformity of finish is much better than can be achieved by other sanding methods. Especially suited to mouldings as well as flat panels. This head can also be used for producing a grain finish on metals, de-oxidizing or burr removal.
As standard, the head comes supplied with 240 grit abrasives, the abrasives are easily changed in situ without removing the drum from the machine, grits up to 320 are available.
